Important facts to know about training your new puppy

Training your new puppy does not have to be a difficult time in your life. By following a few simple steps it can be easy and rewarding for both you and the puppy.

A major mistake that most people do is not start training the puppy at the right age for the puppy to understand the purpose of its training. Your puppy should be  8 weeks or  older to start training. It will create less stress on both you and the puppy.

Make Training your puppy FUN

Make sure your having the positive attitude towards training your puppy. If your tired and stressed, this will affect your puppy they are very sensitive to your tone of voice. Be sure to praise you puppy if they do something good. Even if its just a small command like NO or responding to his/her new name. (A little Piece of cereal or a cut up hot dog works great)

Potty training your new puppy

Potty training your new puppy has a lot to do with the person who trains the puppy. If you are stern with it if it doses something wrong it will  soon learn that you are in charge. This is good to get across to the puppy at a young age. If you take her out and she goes potty outside praise her. (give her a treat) Show her you are proud of what she did.

Keep Your Training Consistent

This a critical part in training a little puppy. It is hard for a puppy to understand expectations if they change from day to day or between people in the house. Make sure everyone in the house hold is using the same commands. For example if you are teaching her to sit by saying "sit" and some else is saying "down" and trying to get her to sit. The puppy will get confused.

Make sure all the family members are on the same page. If the kids let the puppy sleep on the bed and then when you see her and punish her for it will confuse her and slow your training down.  It would be good to have a family discussion on the "do's and don'ts" in the house before you start training your puppy.
